The Culture
Rishon Le Zion offers its residents rich cultural life. The city's historical buildings and sites, which became the symbols of Zionism, serve as a magnificent background. Rishon Le Zion is a" Wine City" and known for its excellent, praiseworthy wines. Every year the city celebrates the harvesting of the grapes in a colorful and joyful Wine-Festival.
The Winery
Baron Edmond de Rothshild laid the corner stone for the winery and eventually for the Rishon wine industry. In that time the winery was considered to be the second largest in the world and the largest in the Middle East. The old site functions now as a historical museum for winery and wine making. Its conspicuous red structure is oozing with unique aroma of fermenting wine.
